KNOMAD Chairs Meeting
From November 7-9, 2019, KNOMAD organized an experts meeting at the World Bank Group Head Quarters in Washington DC to set the agenda for the second phase of KNOMAD. After the successful completion of its phase I, KNOMAD has commenced work on its second phase with contributions from the European Commission and the Swiss Agency for development and Cooperation (SDC). The meeting brought together experts, chairs and co-chairs of various thematic working groups from around the world and from diverse fields including: data,demographics, labor migration, migrant rights, integration in host communities, remittances, diaspora, environmental change, internal migration, urbanization, return migration and reintegration, youth, gender, governance of migration, security, Fintech, communication,capacity building, etc. The objective of this meeting was to discuss proposed work programs for this current fiscal year including types of innovative actions, projects, and new partnerships.Participants discussed in depth several priority issues in order to align KNOMAD activities with the implementation of the Global Compact on Migration. The meeting was also an opportunity to identify and discuss new partnerships for KNOMAD 1.2.
